Nebraska Airborne History
In Development
The Nebraska Airborne Association: Continuing a Legacy of Excellence
Established in 2024, the Nebraska Airborne Association aims to support Gold Star families in Nebraska and foster the camaraderie among paratroopers that began in 1985 with the Long-Range Surveillance Detachment (LRSD).
A Proud History
The LRSD in Nebraska was officially activated on October 1, 1985, marking a significant milestone as the nation's first Army National Guard LRSD. Over the years, airborne units in Nebraska have undergone changes in name, location, personnel, and mission, but have consistently upheld the high standards synonymous with being a paratrooper.
A Legacy of Service
Nebraska's paratroopers have served with distinction in various global hotspots, including Bosnia, Africa, Iraq, Afghanistan, and beyond. We invite all paratroopers to join the Nebraska Airborne Association. Together, we can preserve our airborne traditions and continue to serve our military communities.
